The purpose of the society is to improve the dental health of the public by providing support to our member dentists. The society is also involved in promoting the art, science and technology of the profession of dentistry. Finally the society informs, represents and serves its members and the public to ensure quality and safe dental care for all.

Members of the Akron Dental Society are dedicated to the dental health of the community by participating in programs which bring dentistry to people who are unable to afford dental care. These programs include Dental Options, a program adopted by the Ohio Dental Association which screens patient’s needs and assigns patients to participating dentists to provide the care. The second program, “Give Kids a Smile” is a single day event which provides dental care to children who are unable to afford care.

In the month of February, the society participates in Children’s Dental Health Month. During this month, Akron member dentists visit elementary schools in the community educating students about the importance of good dental health. The society is proud to recognize Dr. Graham who was instrumental in taking this program nationwide.
